The Twenty-Seventh Doodle

Oh my word, I am obsessed with tattoos. I love them. I mean, probably not all of them, I do know someone called 'Crap-tatts'. Unfortunate nick name.

But I do love them. And I love hair. And I love blue. So I drew this picture.

The Twenty-Sixth Doodle

I am a full on history geek, so obviously I love a bit of Sherlock Holmes. Love the books, love the film, love the BBC show. So I decided to do a doodle on it.

So here is a drawing of Benedict Cumberbatch (best name ever) and Martin Freeman. Is it odd I have a big crush on both? Yes, it probably is. Oh well.

I have become obsessed drawing people in this way. My line work is fairly harsh and cutting, but I have avoiding anything 'emo' or scary. Just because something is a little harsh looking doesn't mean it isn't beautiful or interesting.

Coats and fabrics are also amazing to draw and paint. Do it. It's very theraputic.

The Twenty-Fifth Doodle

I love drawing people. Love it.

Now don't get me wrong, I have gotten much more open minded in my old age (oh lord I will be 26 this year ahhhhh). I have become facinated by buildings and even animals, things I used to hate to draw. But essentially, my soul is still in people.

The muscle structure. The way the light reacts to skin. Hair and how it moves. Those beautiful folds in shirts that we would never normally notice, until you really, really look. Eyes. Lips. Necks.

Amazing. People, you are all GORGEOUS to me.

The Twenty-Fourth Doodle

I have always wanted to make a jokey wanted poster, and with my new illustration skills - hey presto!

This is actually a 'portrait' of my flatmate and I which we are going to hang in the lounge; a good plan for the following reasons-

1) It lets everyone know who the most important people in the building are, and that they are wanted/desired by all.
2) It is an excellent talking piece for when conversation is drying up at parties.
3) It clearly states several things we enjoy/participate in, hense not needing to repeat ourselves again and again to randoms.
4) Next to it, we both look much, much hotter in real life.

What else would you want from a sitting room centre piece? NOTHING, that's what.

The Twenty-Third Doodle

This particular illustration is from a friends photograph. I think I mainly wanted to draw it because I loved that funky hat; gosh I am shallow! I seem to have this weird thing of crossing very dreamy with very grungy in my work, I am addicted to the beautiful washy textures of watercolour. Nom nom.

The Twenty Second Doodle

Ahh the musicians, aren't they marvellous. I do like to draw musicians.

This particular chap, Liam, has been a victim of mine several times. He is just very good to draw; a handsome fellow, with tattoos, and a grungy sort of look. All ticks for me!

This is a build up of layers of watercolour, I wanted a very dark and intense image, with emphasis on the eyes. Half musician, half zombie.....

The Twentieth and Twenty-First Doodle

So if you go to http://www.harrietpulford.com/ you will see a nifty little animation with these doodles of mine, which is pretty blimmin' cool. That slider, I could play with it for hours!

This was a fun commission, I loved doing the futuristic Harriet! She wanted it sort of robotic, and when I started for some reason the steampunk robotic style suited it much more than a realistic type, like the Terminator or stuff like that. It just didn't quite look right till I tried that particular style with those rusty sort of colours, it seemed to gel much better. And she was very pleased with it, which helps!
