The Eighty Fourth Doodle - a trip to Paris

Well goodness, I'm terribly sorry I've been absent for a while. I am just incredibly, incredibly popular and have no time to type.

LOLZ total lie, I have like 3 friends.

ANYWAY so I went to Paris last week woop! I have heard that some tourists get the dreaded 'Paris syndrome', where they are so distraught that the reality of the city does not live up to their ridiculous dream-like and nonsensical envisions that they become almost depressed, but thankfully I did not suffer from such a stupid syndrome. Because it's stupid.

Paris was ineed very beautiful and had a lovely vibe to it, and we had a marvelous time rambling around. I created this wee illustration just before we went in anticipation -
I definitely did eat too many pastries, drank a lot of red wine, went up the Eiffel Tower and walked so much my feet hurt like buggary.
Good times :)

The Twenty-Fifth Doodle

I love drawing people. Love it.

Now don't get me wrong, I have gotten much more open minded in my old age (oh lord I will be 26 this year ahhhhh). I have become facinated by buildings and even animals, things I used to hate to draw. But essentially, my soul is still in people.

The muscle structure. The way the light reacts to skin. Hair and how it moves. Those beautiful folds in shirts that we would never normally notice, until you really, really look. Eyes. Lips. Necks.

Amazing. People, you are all GORGEOUS to me.

The Twenty-Third Doodle

This particular illustration is from a friends photograph. I think I mainly wanted to draw it because I loved that funky hat; gosh I am shallow! I seem to have this weird thing of crossing very dreamy with very grungy in my work, I am addicted to the beautiful washy textures of watercolour. Nom nom.

The Tenth Doodle

Carcassone. Possibly my ideal, achingly beautiful and historical city. As a history geek, this is a sort of Mecca for me.

This is from a photo took while there, and I enjoyed playing around with a 'scenery' sort of illustration. I wanted the colours to be just so, to reflect that aged feel, the stone that has been there so long. Then the colours on the figure of me were deliberately bold, almost a jolt against the natural background. I am but a blip, and the city will be there long after I am gone.

Goodness, I am philosophical aren't I.
