Music has always been a huge influence and love for me. I'm pretty sure most artists/designers/illustrators listen to music when doing their thang, whether it's rap, pop, grunge, rock, classical or r&b. Each to their own.
This particular doodle is very simple, but I enjoyed doing it. I like that it's not so obvious that the figure is playing guitar, it's a less cliched pose. Maybe that isn't a good thing, but hey ho. I'm pleased with it.
My name is Ruth, and I'm a freelance illustrator and artist living in London. This blog documents a mixture of my illustration work, sketched reviews & life in the big bad wonderful city of London. www.ruthjoyce.co.uk

The second Doodle
A quicky pen doodle, more on the fashion side of things. I really enjoy trying to draw the whole image without taking the pen off the paper, makes you think really hard about where you go! I like that even though fashion is a subject matter I've never really tried before, it still has my stamp all over it. It's cute, but not too cute.

My first Doodle
Well, we all must start somewhere. So here is the first doodle of my blog, a step on finding my illustration style and building up my portfolio.
I think I have quite an edgy, somewhat gritty style. But I think just because my style is like that, doesn't mean I have to apply it only to gritty subject matter. So I will also experiment with things I've never thought of doing, like fashion perhaps. We shall see.
Forgive the unsightly 'copyright' watermark, but unfortunately I have found this necessary on all doodles and pictures.
